Roosevelt Island, NY

The Island Underneath The Bridge!

For many years, every time I crossed the Queens Bridge heading to Manhattan, I always wondered about that small island underneath the bridge. Till last summer, I made the decision to finally explore the mystery, and discover one of my current favorite destinations in New York City.

Like I mention, for many years of crossing the Queens Bridge, I noticed this island underneath it, but didn't have any idea of how to get there, or what's even there. After some research and a lot of curiosity, one summer day, I decided to head out and explore Roosevelt Island. The first time I got to this island, I was really shocked to see that people actually live there. Even though is located between two boroughs of New York City, being in this island, made it feel like I was in a magical place away from the city.

After walking around and enjoying unique views of the New York City skyline, I noticed that people in this island are really nice and welcoming, and not to forget, being in this island feels peaceful and relaxing. One of my favorite things to do in this island, is to take the Tramway to Manhattan and back to Roosevelt Island. Call me crazy, but I find the tramway really fun and after bringing my family and other friends to join me in different occasions, taking the tramway has become memorable.

For this outfit look editorial, I decided to challenge my style by trying out some new layering technics. Since Roosevelt Island is located between two of New York City boroughs, I though it was a great idea to style two different style shirts. Like this vintage white turtle neck shirt, which give us that Upper East Side elegance look we all love once in a while, paired with a green casual shirt, giving us that causal Queens work break we all need once in a while too. Put them together, and we get this elegant casual outfit look, perfect for any occasion. Since I consider Roosevelt Island, a destination to relax and enjoy peace for once, keeping it comfortable is key. Here, I'm wearing one of my favorite white sneakers, along with a pair of navy blue pants to balance out the colors on this look.

Hopefully warm weather is heading to New York really soon, so I can start heading back to this amazing island, and this year, I want have a picnic along with close friends and family to make this island, a more memorable one. If you ever in New York City, don't forget to take a quick visit to Roosevelt Island, the trip is worth while. That's all for now, and I'll see you all in my next post!
